about

From Jacob Culver:

I wrote this song last year during a time of fear and uncertainty, similar to the chaos of the current climate... A synagogue my family attends had been the target of a mass shooting, some of the artists I look up to most took their own lives, and it felt like the world took steps backwards on LGBTQ+ rights. As a proud Jewish & bisexual person who has struggled with depression, I became acutely aware of the hate I may invite into my life. Bury Me was written as a reminder to myself to NOT let fear silence passion. In the process of making Bury Me, I realized I had to write about wanting to end it to learn that I didn’t...

lyrics

Black days we fell on
Show me how to handle the pain
Chase fame while heroes shoot heroin and die before they’re 30 in vain

So why do you care if I smoke?
There’s methane in the air
Not like I gave this world shit
I’m pretty tired so if chasing a dream won’t keep me good company
Then bury me, bury me right now

If none of us are well till no one is weak
You should cut me out, get closer to peace
The more I know, the less I believe
Just bury me, bury me right now

My faithv’s a target
Shot 11 people numbers for names
For how I pray and who I sleep I might be on borrowed time
Not afraid to die a martyr but I’m still afraid to die

If none of us are well to know what is weak
You should cut me out, get closer to peace
The more I know, the less I believe
Just bury me, bury me right now

I call this heaven
Somehow it’s not enough
I call this heaven
Somehow it’s not enough

So why do you care if I smoke?
There’s methane in the air (it’s not like I gave)
Not like I gave this world shit (to anyone else)
I’m pretty tired so if chasing a dream won’t keep me good company
Then bury me, bury me right now

You know I’ll wait
If none of us are well to know what is weak (you know)
Than you should cut me out, get closer to peace (I’ll wait)
The more I know, the less I believe (you know)
Just bury me, bury me right now (I’ll wait)

I call this heaven
Somehow it’s not enough
I call this heaven
Somehow it’s not enough
